FAQ

  • What is teletherapy?

Teletherapy is the online delivery of health services via virtual communication. Rather than sit in the same room, the client and therapist attend sessions remotely.

  • What is your fee?

I commonly bill $130 private pay clients for a 50 minute session and accept all major credit cards. You are welcome to ask about my limited sliding scale rates.

  • What is your cancellation policy?

If you need to cancel or reschedule an appointment, please do so 24 hours in advance to avoid a $60 fee charge.

  • Do you accept insurance?

In 2024, in partnership with Headway, I began to accept insurance plans with Aetna, Cigna, and certain Blue Shield of California plans. If you are a private pay client, I can supply you with a statement (a super bill) that you then will need to directly submit to your insurance for a possible repayment. However, I highly recommend contacting your insurance company to discuss the out of network benefits that are specific to your plan as repayment is not guaranteed.

Good Faith Estimate

You have the right to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” explaining how much mental health care will cost. Under the law, health care providers need to give patients who don’t have insurance or who are not using insurance an estimate of the expected charges for medical services, including psychotherapy services. You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of any non-emergency healthcare services, including psychotherapy services.

You can ask your health care provider, and any other provider you choose, for a Good Faith Estimate before you schedule a service. If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you can dispute the bill. Make sure to save a copy or picture of your Good Faith Estimate.

However, please note that the Good Faith Estimate offers an estimate based on the costs of telehealth services that are reasonably expected by From Within Therapy. The estimate is developed with information at the time it is written. It does not include any reimbursement that you may receive as a result of out-of-network benefits. The Good Faith Estimate does not include any unexpected costs that may arise during treatment. Hence, you may be charged more if additional services are needed during special circumstances.
